Men and women talk

 

            At one point in our lives we have all lied, whether it has been a white lie or a very big lie that has covered us up for the mistakes that we have committed. Having to debate on whether men lie more then women or women lie more then men is a very controversial issue. How are we to determine which one lies the most? According to the article "The Truth about Lying" by Judith Viorst explains to us what type of different lies that happen throughout our everyday lives such as social lies, protective lies, peace-keeping lies, and trust keeping lies. After reading and comprehending the article, I think that the average female lies to a larger extent compared to the average male because out of the four lies possible women have a higher rate of committing them rather than men.
             Although men do lie at one point in their lives, it does not compare to how much women lie in a single conversation with one of their acquaintances. When a man and his friends are having a conversation they do not comment each other on almost every single detail. They would feel as if their masculinity is being questioned because generally that does not happen between two male figures. They are not as specific as the female gender. The point is that women are more analytical, and therefore tend to pay more attention to minor details. One of the lies that Viorst had listed in the article had been Social Lies. These social lies are often committed by the .
             female gender even though they consider them to be a fib only. For example, when a woman and her associates are having a conversation they are much more likely to be observing and commenting each other on the way their hair is styled or on a particular piece of clothing that they would happen to be wearing. Even if the clothing or hair style is not what they think is necessarily appealing they will still lie to them about how wonderful they look. And for these reasons this is why the male gender are less likely to be caught lying as often as a woman would.
