Interview: What do you think about the war in Iraq?.
I"m writing this paper based on the war in Iraq. I want to know what people think about it and how they really feel. I started off not knowing much about the war, even though it's been going on for a while. Through interviewing these few people and looking on the internet, I've learned more about the war then before. I also learned there may have been more going on than televised.
I first went to a few friends of mine to see what they thought about the war. Most of their answers were short, but they were really firm on their opinion. One of my good friends, Blake Shuman (freshman) said, "It's just as a world superpower, it is our duty to police the rest of the world and not let it destroy itself." Blake seemed to be very emotional with is answer as if it had affected him directly. He continued on to say, "also, since 9/11, if we have learned anything, it's that when we see a force building that threatens the American way of life, it is our duty to take it out.".
Blake wasn't the only one who I ran into who supported the war. I also talked to Dane Maxfield (junior) who supported the war. He said, "I totally support it. If I wasn't here playing football, I"d definitely be over there fighting. I have friends over there fighting for this country and I would fight too if I could." Though I could not continue interviewing Dane because he had to go to class, he still got his point across. He obviously supports the war.
Though a few people I talked to were in favor of the war, even more people were opposed. I talked to Anthony Thomas (junior) and Adrian Perryman (freshman) and they both were opposed to the war. Adrian stated that "Our soldiers should be pulled out. We have too many Americans dying and it's doing nothing but hurting our military. We should worry about the U.S. first." Anthony added, "I think it's a bunch of nonsense. We"re over there fighting for someone else's freedom and leaving ourselves open for attack.
