Nation of the money

Currently, in America, it is very evident that corporations have a major influence on the government. In such a country that is very capitalistic in nature, it should be no surprise that corporations can have such power. Since it works within the interest of the government to serve their multinational corporations, they do so, otherwise they may loose them to other countries who are lenient with corporations. Many law changes and Supreme Court rulings have been made over the past century which have given corporations the advantages they have today and these advantages have rapidly increased over the past thirty years. Corporate influences can come in many shapes and forms. One tactic they use to make their goals easy to attain is high pressure lobbying on the government. Many rival corporations work together to reach their goals within these lobbies. Another technique corporations use is financing political campaigns. They use this as a bargaining tool so that political parties can accept their demands if they get elected. Another way corporations can control the government is directly, by having former executives placed in office to work in the interest of the corporation. When these issues are taken into account it is hard to deny the fact that corporations can have such a stranglehold over the government. .
One of the many ways a government can get swayed towards a decision is by a lobby. The more influential the people of the lobby are to the government, the more likely the government would give in to the pressure. Since this is the case with corporations, it makes them extremely successful in this field. Business lobbies have worked strongly against the clean air and water legislation, the closing of federal wilderness areas to oil and gas exploration, workers rights and corporate taxes. Some of the most powerful lobbying groups are the corporate roundtables. The roundtables consist of CEO's from a nations biggest corporations who cooperate to make their corporate goals easy to attain.
