The Day Lincoln Was Shot

Many people saw and recognized who the assassin was, but they still questioned, why, how, and what was going to happen next?.
Two main issues troubled the Union government early 1865: one was to kill of the Confederacy and the other to keep President Abraham Lincoln alive. Lincoln had close calls and many threats and for this reason he had security around him at all hours of the day, everyday. Lincoln wasn't very liked by all other government officials, but he was loved by the people. His second inauguration was a big event and it has the city of Washington, D.C. overloaded. One of the people in attendance for the inauguration was Lincoln's future assassin, Booth. At this time Lincoln was in poor health and about 35 pounds underweight, plus he was under the stress of the Civil War, until the day of April 2, 1865 when it was announced that the Confederacy had fallen. Once the word had spread there would be great excitement and celebration. More celebrations were added when word was out that General Robert E. Lee had surrendered to General grant. The formal celebration was held the next day and Lincoln gave a speech, yet again Booth was in attendance. Little did Lincoln know this would be the last speech he was going to give.
Before his assassination Lincoln had a dream of the very event. He had a dream of people around his dead body crying and mourning. He told others of this dream and he said that he never real thought anything of it, but in reality he was terrified by it. For safety precautions many people close to Lincoln ordered him not to go out and not to make too many public appearances, especially in time war time such as the one they were in. Lincoln basically shrugged them off and did as he pleased subconsciously knowing he was going to suffer a violent death.
Booth's reasoning to hate Lincoln and ultimately kill him was really never known. Booth was for the south though, and he hated Lincoln more and more by the day for the fact that he wanted to keep the Union together and that he was destroying the Confederacy.
