Alexander Graham Bell

 

            Alexander Graham Bell was born on March 3, 1847 in Edinburgh, Scotland. Bell is best known for his invention of the telephone. Young Alexander Graham Bell was named for his grandfather. He adopted his middle name from a friend of the family and he had two brothers. His family and close friends called him Graham. He was a talented musician. Many inventors had been working on the idea of sending human speech by wire, but Bell was the first to succeed. .
             The invention of the telephone grew out of improvements Bell had made to the telegraph. Bell's first telephone was granted on March 7, 1876. The first telephone company, Bell Telephone Company, was founded on July 9, 1877. After inventing the telephone, Bell continued his experiments in communication. He invented the photophone -transmission of sound on a beam of light. Bell also invented techniques for teaching speech to the deaf. Alexander Graham Bell died in Baddek, Nova Scotia, on August 2, 1922.
             Telephones back in the 1900's were modern. People had to dial the number by spinning the receiver. Technology has grown quickly to upgrade the telephone. Today we just have to press a number instead of spinning. The telephones are way different. Telephones today, have speaker built in, intercom, answering machines, and quicker communication. We have digital telephones so, that you can walk around talking to the person. Telephones today are very useful. You can communicate with friends, family, and others over the telephone. We use the telephone about everyday. Telephones are used all over the world today. This invention has helped everyone today. I thank Alexander Graham Bell for his magnificent invention.
             The invention has been a major effect for America and Americans. Without telephones it will be very hard to communicate. Business workers would be very aggravated. Everyone today uses the telephone to make calls. Without this invention life would be tough.
