Half Year Summary

 

            First of all I would like to say I'm very glad I was given the chance to intern this semester. I never thought that going to work could bring anything but stress and well for lack of a better word work. I was really wrong. As you already know I took the chance to intern with my father at Porterfield United Methodist Church. He is a youth minister there and as much as he does he told me he was glad to have the help. Almost every single day when I walk into the church after school I have a full list of jobs to do. I used to mind at first but then I realized how much I actually do help our church, and mainly our youth program. With my dad over the last semester we have done such things as re-opening the Solid Rock Café, we have installed and linked 3 X-boxes so up to 12 people can play each other at once, we have also redecorated the entire youth room. Everything has changed at our church in such a short time but in an amazing way. Youth participation is going way up and everything just seems to be getting better. With this job I've had the chance to give devotions and help with lessons. Also working with our "tech- guy, Mark Davis, I've learned a lot about running sound and editing video. These past few months has also made me become an organized person, which usually I am not. This is a trait I'm glad I acquired. Now that I think about it there are truly no negative aspects to this job, it is providing me with a good place to use my talents, and a good way to be of use. I would really like to continue this job next semester. .
