Ancient Rome

 

            Rome was founded by Romulus and Remus, twin sons of the Roman god Mars and a Latin princess. They were abandoned and sent down the Tiber River as babies. A big reason why Rome developed into It was in the middle of the Italian Peninsula in between the Alps and the Southern tip of Italy. It was also in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea which made it an excellent location for trade. Rome was built on several steep hills that were high enough to defend themselves from intruders. Around the Tiber river there was fertile soil .

             The Jews were ruled under the Persian Empire until Alexander the Great extended his empire across the Middle East. Seluchid and ptholemy, two of Alexanders generals controlled in afterwards. Antiochus IV Epiphanes took over and tried to force the Greek religion and customs on the Jews. There last ruler before .
