In the 40s, their was a solid image of marriage. There was a specfic image of what the husband should uphold. To provide for the family would be the number one priority. He was also the protector and to handle everything to make sure the family could survive. On the other hand the mother had far more domestic duties. Her first prority would be to raise the children. Children would be a mothers job to keep under control. She should also clean the house and cook for her husband and family. Yet, as time pasts more in my time period o growing up, the 90s, things have changes. There is no longer a definate duty commanded to either parent. It is more of who can complete the task better. Male and Female roles in the relationship if marriage are no longer old fashioned.
Being in a relationship doesn't mean that the couple or family does not being in old fashioned ways. When a man wants to marry a woman, he could still ask her father for her hand.He could also propse on one knee. A woman also could want to clean the house and for her spouse not touch anything at all.This could be considered an old fashioned state of mind. Yet, when it comes to the deeper issues of family and relationship, their morals could be old fashioned and yet there go about it in modern ways.
Both parents can be the provider. Almost everyone goes to college today to pursue a career. Woman have taken a substantial leap into the business world.They now hold the job of managers, assistants, CEOs, owners, basically anything a woman wanst to do she can achieve. Being a parents this is profitable. As parents with two incomes it would be easier to provide for a family. Because of the price of needs in the past, it was ok to live on one income. Today, It's know that children are expensive. As caring parents you want to provide everything they need to have a good education and childhood. With two parents working it could also make the parents feel equal.
