That doesn't make drinking and driving right nor should it have a lesser punishment then getting caught with drugs. .
For example, there was this story in the newspaper a few years ago about a boy, from Ohio, who was spending Christmas Eve at his best friend's house. His curfew had gotten extended to 13:30 a.m just for the occasion. He was very excited about the extenetion of his curfew and didn't want to break it so he left his friend's house around 12:15 to make it home on time. As he was driving home in his black 97" oldsmobile, he was hit by an oncoming car. The boy suffered very serious injuries such as internal bleeding, a cracked pelvis, and nerve damage to the brain. He later died. Last year alone in Ohio, there were 604 deaths from drunk driving. .
Drunk Driving needs to be put to an end. I think that people think that they can get away with drunk driving because the worst that happens to them is that they get their license revoked and they have to take an alcohol test. The laws need to be more strict when it comes to drinking and driving. There should be random tests set up on the side of the road and police officers should get more envolved. For example, if word ever got out that someone had drugs, there would be a drug bust in less than 24 hours. The police would have everything under control and taken care of so fast that you wouldn't even know what happened. But with drinking and driving they don't seem that willing to help. Maybe if the laws were more serious people would start taking it more seriously. As an example to more serious laws, people never took the law that if you don't buckle up, then you will get a warning or something to the point. Now it's a law, click it or ticket. People don't want to deal with having to pay a ticket and so they just follow the law. And they buckle up. It the law hardened on drinking and driving, I think there would be less crimes. It's so easy to get away with.
