Perhaps one of the most controversially issues that woman face in today's society is abortions. Basically, a woman finds herself unexpectedly pregnant and decides she, or she and her partner, are unable to bring a child into the world. She is left with two options, to place the child up for adoption after birth or to abort the pregnancy. Today I am here to present an open-minded seminar on the facts of abortions. There is no intention to alter your opinion on the topic, just the hope to be able to make you understand the complete story of abortions, through information that you may not have been aware of before. .
             What is an abortion?.
An abortion is the termination of a pregnancy by loss or destruction of the foetus before birth. It can be either spontaneous or induced and the latter is an act with many legal and ethical ramifications. Spontaneous abortion occurs on its own as a result of natural causes, widely known as a miscarriage or stillbirth. Whereas, induced abortion are the direct result of a medical procedure intended to end a pregnancy prematurely. Most abortionists will preform this medical or surgical procedure between the sixth and twelfth week of pregnancy, this differs from one country to another. The abortion will take place at a hospital, doctor's office or a women's health centre, but the majority take place at abortion clinics, which specialise in surgical abortion. An unborn child is believed to be able to feel pain as early as twelve weeks, hence the foetus is very alive prior to the abortion procedure. Evidence shows that the procedure is very painful for the unborn as they receive no anaesthesia, however the mother will during surgical abortion.
             Means of abortions.
             Suction.
To abort an early pregnancy the doctor inserts a tube through the opening of the womb and connects it to a suction apparatus. The vacuum is so powerful that the baby is instantly broken up into a fluid mass of blood, tissue, and cartilage.
