Elliot decided to take Amy with them so they could try to identify the gorilla that was on the tape. Ross got a plane through their company, but they did not have a guide to take them to the site. So on the way to the Congo, they stopped in another country to try to get a guide. When they got to the guide's house, a "consortium" of people from other companies who had formed an alliance were already there and were bidding to see who would pay the most for a guide to take them to the lost city. Before the bidding was over, the consortium left. They had gotten news that there was another guide that could take them. Ross got the first guide, who's name was Munro. He was an ex-con who was wanted in several countries for smuggling banned items in and out. They were about ready to leave when the consortium attacked the plane and kidnapped Amy. Ross realized it was only a ploy to keep them sidetracked for awhile so the consortium could get ahead. The plan did not work for the consortium because Ross had taken extra precautions earlier. He had given Amy a pill that looked like a vitamin but was really a tracking device. They found Amy in an abandoned landfill and, they were quickly on there way again. As soon as they crossed the border into the next country they were fired upon by the government. They were sending up old SAM's leftover from a war, and were using them to try to destroy planes they may have been enemy or reconnaissance aircraft. They got hit and knew that if they tried to avoid the missiles by detouring they would lose precious time, so they rerouted quickly and got into a different smaller plane. .
The next part of their plan required them to parachute out and land in dense tropical forest. Amy did not like jumping out of the plane and it scared her, so she tried to punish them by giving them the silent treatment, and by wandering far behind. She quickly realized that if she was going to be stubborn, it wasn't going to work because they needed to river raft along the length of some part of a river.
