            Michael Andrew Fox is a very significant important character in the publics eye, from being perceived as a successful comedian with a grasp on life to being a victim of one of the deadliest diseases in the United states, Parkinson's Disease.
             Fox was born on June 9, 1961, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. He is one of five children. Michael dropped out of high school in the twelfth grade but did go back and receive his GED in 1995. At the age of 18, Fox made his way to Hollywood but was overlooked for major acting parts until 1982 when he was cast as the capitalistic teenager Alex Keaton on the TV show "Family Ties." .
             His popularity grew tremendously when he decided to accept the role on the sitcom "Spin City." Michael J. Fox has starred in over twenty-five movies, made over five guest appearances on television shows, has been in over five made for television/cable movies, has been in four television series and has been in over twenty-five television specials until he announced a very unexpected resignation from his ever growing acting career that changed his life as for many others. Fox revealed in November 1998 that he had suffered from Parkinson's since 1991. .
             After 1998 Fox took a positive attitude towards his condition and decided to start The Michael J. Fox Foundation. The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research is dedicated to ensuring the development of a cure for Parkinson's disease within this decade through an aggressively funded research agenda. Enormous progress toward finding a cure has been made on many neurological fronts, and scientists' understanding of the brain and how disease affects it has increased dramatically. The Foundation seeks to hasten progress further by awarding grants that help guarantee that new and innovative research options are thoroughly funded and explored.
             Michael J. Fox in many people's eyes is a savior because of his undying pursuit of a anti-drug or procedure to stop and eliminate the Parkinson's disease.
