The young men who came to the door, two of whom had only a pervious juvenile conviction for disorderly conduct, were friends of a young disgruntled woman to whom the couple in the apartment owed money from one of those illegal marriages. The men had come to collect the money owed to the young woman."(Gonzalez 493). .
Gonzalez solved the riddle that left more holes than the two dead men. But why was the story flipped flopped and left in the mists? "The tipsters insisted the shooting was being covered up because the two detectives were former bodyguards of Mayor Rudy Giuliani, and one was a boyhood friend of the mayor's"(Gonzalez 493). But wouldn't Mayor Giuliani want to enforce the law instead of making exceptions for the law? This situation makes one think that if money is the root of evil than committing crimes is ok if you have money. Mayor Giuliani, a good man, left people questioning if he was involved in this whole situation. Wouldn't you think he was try to at least put on a "front" to show society he actually cared about enforcing the law instead of looking like a hypocrite? The government itself has its own society that no one other than the government is involved; and for Americans not to be involved in this society makes one feel that we are being lied to everyday on important issues that we should know about. .
Urban American is getting bigger and more popularized as more and more Blacks, Hispanics and immigrants move in. "Blacks and Hispanics who are now the majority in virtually all the great metropolises of America, are relatively powerless to stop the nation's disinvestments in its urban infrastructure"(Gonzalez 494). Is this the reason why we (minorities) are "hated" on so much? The fact that minorities are taken over blue collared cities is making America sick. America is not hiding its feeling on how they feel about minorities. So why should we? Police officers target minorities for crimes that they feel they have committed.
