As I arose from bed to the sound of birds chirping and movement in my house, I knew today was one of the best days of my life. I slid to the end of my bed as usual, slipped on my house shoes, gave my face a good rub, and stood up with a smile. As I strutted down the hall with my chest stuck out and my shoulders laid back, I knew today was my special day. After I used the bathroom and tended to my daily routine, I walked into the living room where my family awaited with smiling faces and multiple hugs. I wish. That kind of morning only happens on the Brady Bunch; let me tell you how it really happened. .
(Whispering) "One . . . two . . . three . . ." At the count of three, I rolled over to see who was in my room and at the same time I see my older brother and aunt flying in the air headed toward me. Feeling helpless as a bird with clipped wings, I just laid there and accepted what was about to happen. (Yelling and shouting) "Come on Spence, come on get up," my aunt and brother insisted. So after a bit of persuasion, I finally rolled out of bed. After tending to my daily routine I strolled in the living room, "Momma's so proud of you son," my mother said with tears in her eyes. My grandmother was also congratulating me, "Hun, I"m going to cook you breakfast, what would you like?" "I guess some eggs, bacon, and potatoes." So as she walked to the kitchen, I thought "she hasn't cooked for me since I was about four years" young." I was so ecstatic, I ran and gave her a hug. The only problem is that I hugged her head because she's about five feet tall. She's the grandmother that is in every family that everyone is trying to be taller than the next time you go to visit her. Once you were taller than her it seemed that you received special privileges that you are not accustom to. For instance, going to bed later or getting that extra scoop of ice cream so that when it was time to compare amounts, you knew without a doubt you had the most ice cream.
