College Essay

I can still remember it like it was yesterday, even though it happened the summer .
It was the time my friend Ronnie and I decided to go fishing. What I didn't know, but was soon to find out, was that it would become one of the biggest adventures of my life.
We started off the day by filling up the four-wheeler and tying down our fishing poles, and then it was time to hit the road. It took us a good while to get in the vicinity of the creek, but we seemed to be making good time. No sooner had I told Ronnie to watch out for the next turn and "zoom"- we went off the edge of the cliff. Luckily for us, we somehow managed to stay on, land on all four tires, and just keep on going.
About half an hour after our little escape from death, we arrived at the creek. We ended up fishing for a few hours before we decided to go on a journey to find a new spot. During our escapade we ran into some cow elk. Since we are also into the sport of hunting we decided to follow them for a better look. Well, this was a bad decision on our part, because they took us way off of our path.
Before we knew it, we had become so turned around that we no longer knew where we were. Then, all of a sudden, it started to pour. It began to rain so hard that we could no longer see where we were going. We continued to drive in circles until suddenly, our four-wheeler just died. We immediately unscrewed the gas cap and to our surprise, the tank was empty, all but a few drops. At this point we knew that we had just gotten ourselves into another mess, and no one knew where we were. Ronnie and I knew that no one was going to help us and that it was all up to us if we were going to get home. Since it was already close to dark and we still hadn't eaten anything we decided to cook some of the fish that we caught. .
The reason that this experience was so memorable was for the simple fact that it wasn't easy. From personal experience Ronnie and I could have easily lost our heads and panicked.
