Stricter Gun Control

Gun control in this country is not where it should be and it is time the government stepped in and laid out more laws and stricter penalties. The numbers of crimes involving guns are increasing more and more because of how easy it is to have one. The government has the ability to enforce more laws so they can reduce the number of guns on the streets. The government also needs to take steps to reduce the amount of guns being made, and mainly who has them (Jacobs 1-3).
Today's crimes are becoming more violent that ever because of the widespread use of guns. Guns are involved in many incidents today that people did not even worry about in the past. We see people killed because of road rage, gang related incidents, robberies, and many incidents that are pointless. The main reason is there is just simply too many guns on our streets today. Do people really need guns when they are in their vehicles? The government needs to make laws against these types of incidents. Guns are everywhere and about anyone can get one, including thirteen and fourteen year old kids, which is evident from the Columbine shooting and the recent school shooting in San Diego (Zimring 96-101).
The government has to ability to set strict laws so why are they not doing anything. It is time they stepped up to the plate and start setting stricter laws so those innocent victims are forced to carry around guns. If both criminals and innocent bystanders have guns then that is not a good thing. People believe they can defend themselves with guns but it always ends up for the worst. They need to enforce very strict background checks on everyone who buys a gun. If they have any type of record, that person should not have a gun. If a person has kids in their house then there should be a set law to keep the guns in a room locked up in a cabinet where kids can not reach. Why not keep people from buying guns instead of letting them feel safe with guns in their house.
