Diversity In Education

 

            Abortion is one of the most sensitive, yet highly discussed topics among debates or issues today. Due to the sensitivity of the subject and the personal views of other debaters it is also one of the hardest subjects to base an opinion on. When declaring ones views on a subject such as abortion, it is hard to be firm or voice ones opinion on something that has such vast room for perception. For example, there are two distinct sides to the abortion argument or topic. There is the "Pro-choice- side, meaning those who believe that women to have the right to choose to keep or terminate a pregnancy. There is the "Pro-life- side, meaning those who believe abortion is murder and are against it in all aspects. However, in between those two sides are those who undecided due to inevitable situations. I t is situations as such that many people find themselves in this particular category. A young girl is raped. She is not yet old enough to take care of a child and her options are few. Is it not right for her to have an abortion. Should she not be able to ruin a life. What about her life. Would it not be ruining a her life to make her keep a baby she did not ask for, can not take care of, or provide for. Let us not forget that she was raped she neither asked for pregnancy nor the situation that caused it. Should she not have the right to decide whether or not to destroy her life.
             A young woman enters college her first semester. She is boisterous, proud, and filled with an overwhelming feeling of independence. She excites at the thought of being able to make her own decision and judge of character. She revels in her new feeling of freedom. She begins to hang out with a group of girls who know how to really appreciate a good party. She begins to hang with her new friends more often. They begin to cloud her new found judgment while encouraging her to be promiscuous. She begins to party more and neglect her school duties.
