This one room alone has 3,264 windows. At the very end of the Infinity Room, there is a plexi-glass window, which provides a breathtaking view of the forest floor 156 feet below. On windy days it is said that you can feel the room sway with the wind. This room is not for those who are afraid of heights! There was at one point in time, a tree that was growing from the roof of the Infinity Room's farthest point. This tree remained growing there until a couple of years ago when severe weather made it tumble 156 feet to the forest floor. .
Before construction of the Infinity Room began, Alex Jordan had a twelve ton concrete and steel bridge built in order to connect the rock that the house was built on, and the rock right next to it. The actual Infinity Room was built in a telescoping manner. That is the first section of the room was made in its place on this concrete and steel bridge. Because the room tapers to a point, the next section was made inside of the first section. The second section was then slid out, like a telescope, held in place with a winch, and attached to the first section where it was finally welded into its rightful place. The third and final section was made with the same telescoping process. During the Infinity Room construction project no support from below was ever used, and the only safety measure used was a net that hung underneath the bridge in case a worker or piece of equipment were to fall.
The Gate House .
The Gate House, which was built after the original studio, is on a lower level of the house. In the Gate House, you will find a wide variety of ethnic sculptures that are complemented by subdued lighting. The Great Hooded Fireplace features giant caldrons and steps leading up to huge brass ovens. A music machine also is displayed in the Gate House. It is made of a drum, harp, violin, piano, and a mixture of many other instruments. These music machine creations were hand designed by Alex Jordan himself, and they can be found throughout the entire house and they are fully functional.
