Lost Colony Of Roanoke

This failed because of the lack of supplies, weather conditions, and the poor relationship with the Croatoans and other native tribes. This became bad for the men when they were forced to eat their dogs as a source of food. A ship came to save them and took all but fifteen men back to England.
The mystery of Roanoke begins with the third expedition of 1587. John White was named governor of the colony, which included women and children. This mission was only going to be a success if the families were completely involved. In order to succeed the colonists had to be the investors.
The third expedition had almost one hundred twenty people ready to form a colony, arrived on the island in the spring of 1587. They had to find the fifteen men who were left behind in the second expedition, and then find a new place to settle. It was discovered that the forts built by the colonists the year before were abandoned and that there were no clues to what happened to the fifteen men.
The next step was to find a new place to settle. John White and the English had decided that the place to settle was to be in the Chesapeake Bay area. The colonists did not want to settle there. This was because of the poor relationship between White and the ship captain. So then the colonists were forced to settle in the area of the abandoned fort for the time being.
While the colonists were building their homes, contact with the Croatoans began again. While talking to the Croatoans, they found out what happened to the fifteen men left behind in the last expedition. The Croatoans told them how an enemy tribe attacked the fort and killed some of the men, but how many was unknown.
John White, upset with the news of the dead men, decided to launch an attack against the enemy, the Powhatans. Instead of attacking the enemy, John White's men had attacked the Croatoans. This destroyed their relationship with the Croatoans.
With this happening, the relationship between the Croatoans and the colonists was poor, then the Croatoans refused to supply the colonists with food, and the supplies they had brought with them began to go bad.
