Immigration

(American Immigration).
Although many thought they were coming to have a greater life many immigrants in the early years didn't get the life that they were looking for. Many movies years have shown immigrants coming to the U.S. packed in crates on crater ships, or in the hull of a ship, packed in for months while going across the ocean. They would travel without food, and without seeing the sun of day for the whole trip. They had no bathrooms and would be stuck in one position without moving while they took the trip. Many would die along the way, and others would receive diseases from the people that died. Even the people that made it into the country wouldn't receive the life that they thought they would have if they made it into the country. Many of them owed money to the people that snuck them into country, because of this they would end up having to work for them in their "sweatshops" or whatever business that they had. Not only because they owed them money, but since they were illegal aliens, they would not be able to find a job somewhere else because they would have to give references which would show that they were not legal and might have to be sent back to the country where they came from. Because of this many people were lead to believe that immigration was leading to problems in the U.S. In some ways it was true because they were bring in diseases and were making the sweatshops run to easily with all the free labor that these people were getting from the immigrants. (Are American Extinct).
Although these problems were pretty massive, the immigration process has come along way and has helped to make the immigration safer and more legal. There are still some people that say immigration is hurting the US economy and the job market for the nonimmigrant citizen. Although many feel this way they have been proven wrong with many facts about the effects on the economy. First off immigrants add about 10 billion dollars a year in net income due to increased job supply with the income of people.
