            The new female image of Hong Kong youth can be generally described as open-minded in the recent ten years. To explain the reasons behind, it is better to define what we mean by youth culture and female image first. Youth culture is the way of life .
             nd behavior that is regarded as usual, typical and standard by people aged between 14 and 25. Female image would mean a representation of the external form and existence of the female. Young girls are more open-minded in Hong Kong due to the advanced education level, the inflow of foreign cultures and widespread information. Because of these, young girls are more accessible to new ideas and more willing to consider new concepts than ten years ago.
             In what ways we found Hong Kong young girls open-minded? We get this conclusion with reference to the appearance, behaviors, sexual and dating attitudes of young girls nowadays. When walking in the street, it is not difficult to see young girls with sexy clothes like tube tops, mini-skirts and T-backs, which was rarely seen ten years ago. It seems that they don't mind having a sexy image. Some young girls have other totally different outlook. They dress up like boys and it is hard for others to know their gender from their special outlook. In the past, it was a taboo for girls to talk about sex and sex-related topics. But now, most girls are not afraid of expressing opinions about sex any more. In magazines and television programmes, sex-related topics are always discussed openly. And most of them are very confident and tend to accept different sexual orientations, thus, more homosexuals and bisexuals stand up to fight for their rights. Moreover, young girls now have higher acceptance towards One-night Stands, sex before marriage, cyber sex and cohabitation. From the statistics of The Family Planning Association of Hong Kong, from 1997-2001, the number of youths who seek services from the association has increased by about 30%, in which the number of male is decreasing from 25 to 9.
