She said she gets the best of both worlds. She said that also being involved with the technology aspect of it, it's very rewarding because the children are so eager and motivated to use it and learn. .
6. How do you collaborate with other parents, teachers, and other specialists?.
A- As far as the teachers go they have a planning day on Fridays. They have a lab called the content mastery lab and that's where the teachers meet. Its staffed with resource teachers, EEL (aids), LLA and reading specialist. Stephanie joins them on the day they plan their lessons and is there to support them as well as giving her views if they want them.
7. How do you avoid burnout?.
A- She said that she has been in Education for over 20 years and that she thinks that burn out has a lot to do with changing your attitude. She believes in keeping a positive attitude because you"re going to have problems everywhere and your just going to have to learn how to deal with them. Another great thing that helps with burnout is that in Education you can do so many different things. Over the 20 years in Education she has been a Kindergarten Teacher, Second Grade Teacher, Reading Specialist, Technology Specialist and also a Counselor so pretty good change. I asked her which one she loved the best and she said that she loved them all and she couldn't pick one. They were all different. She has loved every aspect of teaching and what she has done. She loves challenges and trying new things.
8. What type of education/training is needed for your job?.
A- Stephanie has a second Masters. It's an Educational Masters with an emphasis in educational technology. She said that it was not necessary but was real helpful to her. She got her Masters at ASU West. .
9. What qualities should a person have in order to do your job?.
A- Number 1 is patience she said and a love of learning. The technology and their learning curve is enormous and things change all the time so you have to be really motivated all the time to try new things.
