The Concept Of God In Islam

When trying to explain the concept of god in Islam you must first understand the vastness and enormity with which he encompasses. It is often said that wisdom comes with age, and if this is true then it is only logical that God would be the wisest of them all. We know already that the universe is billions upon billions of years old, and it is him who is thought to be the creator of everything we know, him which from a drop of blood Adam was created.
For the sake of applying a pronoun when I refer to him or he I am referring to God; I am not saying that he possesses any sex because I do not think he is either male of female it is just easier to write this paper using it. There are ninety-nine names for god in the Koran, most of which express the generosity, wrath or intellect of he that is the creator of everything. The first ayah of the Koran describes him as the most Gracious and most Merciful. This concept is a crucial one to the Islamic culture. Unlike many other religions, Muslims do not have images of God or the Prophet for that matter. The belief is that you can not put a face or a figure of them because a picture does not do them proper justice. .
The phrase most gracious, most merciful is said before every Sura in before every act performed by a truly religious Muslim. The term merciful is a very broad label, but so too is the way in which God bestows His mercy. Mercy can come in many forms: pity, forgiveness, patience. In the second ayah he is referred to as the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds. There is no being like that of God and he presence and existence is independent of time and place. He is said to be the one who controls the Day of Judgment. Only He knows when that day will come and in what form it will take place. When Muslims think about god they look at Him as the only one being worthy of worship partly because it is believed that He is the only one with the ability to help us.
