The Word Of God

The laws however, are not the whole story. The Torah contains much more than law: it contains stories and wisdom of encouragement and guidance. This too was developed in order to bring God closer to the lives of his people. Through the Torah God is a constant and living reality, especially in the lives of the Jewish community.
The Old Testament speaks of Gods word by Law; it has no thought of the word of God becoming flesh (only a mandate, message, or a power). If you obey the laws of the Lord you will have a plentiful life and you will be blessed with his unconditional love and graciousness. God has given his people a guide to use in their daily walk with Christ. This guide is the Ten Commandments which are a summary of the imitable moral law. These commandments were first given in their written form to the people of Israel when they were encamped at Sinai. They were written by the hand of God on two tablets of stone. The commandments are as follows: .
             I. "Thou shall have no other Gods before me." .
II. "Thou shall not make yourself any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. You shall not bow down yourself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; and showing mercy to thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.".
III. "Thou shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that takes his name in vain.".
IV. "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shall thou labor, and do all your work: But the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God: in it you shall not do any work, you, nor your son, nor your daughter, your manservant, nor your maidservant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger that is within your gates: For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it.
