Age of Eighteen

Looking at these results, it is clear that Graduated Driver's License is still not effective enough to reduce crash rates among teen drivers. However, combination of Graduated Drivers License and raising the driving to eighteen will affect this crash rate to reduce dramatically. There will be fewer crashes on the road because of less teenage drivers. In addition, this will give teenage drivers to have enough experience without causing any deadly accidents. Less crash rate will also reduce fatalities. Tom Condon, in "Limit Teens Driving", in The Hartford Courant, reports that "[ ], their (teenage drivers") risk of crash is four times higher than other adults [ ], according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety" (B3). This official data shows that at younger age there are more chances of getting involved in fatal and nonfatal crashes than at older age. After looking at all these data it is clear that how driving age affects crash rates.
Third, maturity level at age of eighteen year olds is much higher than of sixteen or seventeen year olds. Eighteen year olds have more life experience than of younger than sixteen or seventeen year olds. When eighteen year olds are on the road, they are more aware of how to handle the situations created by one's or their own actions and decisions; while sixteen year olds don't know what to do in the tough situations and often panic, making wrong decisions instead of handling with patience, simply because of lack of experience and mainly because of lack of maturity. Eighteen-year-old drivers tend to be more patient than sixteen or seventeen year old drivers who are often aggressive and rude to others on the road. Mostly eighteen year olds are college students who are more worried about their studies, finance and responsibilities, which make their maturity level much higher. Therefore, they tend to be more concerned about themselves and others on the road.
