Colonial Victory over Britain in the war for independence

The American Revolution is a Turning Point in Modern World history. It marked the end of British rule in America and established a nation that, in time, would prove to be one of the worlds most powerful and important countries. Problems for Britain had existed in America from the start of colonization. During the Revolutionary War, America had several advantages. They had great leadership, received assistance from the French, and were skilled in guerrilla warfare. The Revolutionary colonials were minority. There were several important factors that contributed to the colonial victory over Britain in the war for independence. .
One factor that contributed to the colonial victory over Britain was great leadership. George Washington was a giant among men; Benjamin Franklin was a master among diplomats. George Washington was carefully selected to be the leader although he was never raised above the rank of a colonel in the militia. He radiated patience, courage, self-discipline, and a sense of justice. He was a great moral force rather than a great military mind-a symbol and a rallying point. People instinctively trusted him. He insisted on serving without pay and kept a careful expense. .
Another factor that contributed to the colonial victory over Britain was the assistance from the French. During the American War for Independence, the battle of Saratoga was most significant because it persuaded France to begin supporting the Americans openly. France wants revenge against England for humiliating defeat in the Seven Years War. The Declaration of Independence victory at Saratoga convinced France that U.S could win. It considered being the turning point in the war as it led to direct French assistance for the U.S. In 1778, France offered the Americans a treaty of alliance. Their treaty promised everything that Britain was offering----plus independence. .
An additional factor that contributed to the colonial victory over Britain was they were skilled in guerilla warfare.
