The Temple Bar

There is love, life, sorrow, pain, and joy creatively being expressed by the crowd and the performers. This mix of expression and emotion fills the room with magic. The dim lighting and the heaviness of patchouli scented air sets the laid back atmosphere. All at once the atmosphere is loud, laid back, and smooth.

The bar is immediately to my left. Its shelves are stuffed with richly colored bottles. The United Nations sits there: Russian Vodka, Kentucky bourbon, British Gin, Irish whiskey, Greek Ouzo. The nose fills with a potpourri of tobacco, alcohol, patchouli, perfume, and sweat. The scents cling to the hair, clothes, and fill the nostrils. The deep, rich, red color of the walls and the West Indian décor of the rooms give off a distinct vibe. The sultry band that performs on the intimate stage is not just any band. Not just any band could play on this stage. The bands that play here and the artists that grace this stage create magic. Their words paint a picture of whatever emotion or feeling they choose to sing about. They make you feel what they felt as if they experienced the lyrics to the song in their real life. Many can relate even if they haven't experienced what the singer is expressing. The performance almost takes the crowd through a journey of their life experiences. In this type of setting, it would seem that any performance would feel personal. A sense of belonging can be felt here. While the band plays, the intricate sounds flow from the stage and command heads to bob.
Some people dance while others find a comfortable spot on a loveseat or at a table to feel the words in the songs. The intimate connection with the artists thickens the air. As the air thickens, it seems to be heavy, weighing on the shoulders of the crowd. From a distance it would appear to be a cloud of positive energy lingering in the deep red sky of the Temple Bar.
There is a synergy between the performers and the crowd, creating a mix of emotions.
