According to BP statistical Review of World Energy from 1995, the proportion of energy production have been significantly inefficient, because the most industrialised countries such as the United States and Europe uses more than twice to six times as much energy per capita as the Global South. Therefore, the gap between the rich and poor countries can be seen through the usage of energy production and consumption of the two countries, where the poor consume less energy resources. Moreover, as the patterns of energy production become widely increasing, and the spread of automobiles ran very fast, the more energy resources consumed by most people using transportations. For example, oil became the most consumable energy for automobile because it is cleaner and less expensive compare to other energy resource use for high-tech machineries such as coal. The increase in energy consumption also caused by the growing population around the world. As Brown points out that although population increase rapidly during the next quarter century, energy use increased almost twice as fast, stimulating rapid economic growth, the rapid rising production of energy resources made oil the world's principal source of commercial energy. Thus reduces the price of oil as its consumption grew from time to time but also increases the price of commodities and manufactured goods. Oil is then known as the key to poor countries economic development and higher standard of living. The demand in oil is expected to grow between the year of 1994 and 2010 in most developing countries, meaning that it will consume more than two-fifths of world oil supplies. Thus causing more environmental damages to the earth. This relationship between pattern of energy production and consumption is clear to what has been interpreted as the linkage of consumers" wills to consume more energy sources, and the will of industrial producers to supply abundant energy sources.
