Thelma and Louise Thelma Dickinson Analysis

In the film "Thelma and Louise?directed by Ridley Scott, Thelma Dickinson acted by Geena Davis, was a very effective character that drew the audience's attention in many ways. Thelma and Louise had opposite characteristics at the beginning where Louise was the dominant one making all the decisions, however, at the end, they seem to have swapped characteristics as Thelma had differentiated greatly in the progressing of the film, from a shy and nave "girly?girl to a woman in control of her own decision in a matter of a few days.
Thelma was an extremely nave housewife under the control of her husband whom she met at 14 and was the only man whom she had dated- Darryl, a man of great egocentricity and is idiotic in many ways, who thinks he's a lady killer. The first impression we get of Thelma is a ditzy little housewife in a frilly floral dress- a diminutive housewife making herself perfect for her husband. She is also quite messy and unorganized- there were leftover dishes in the sink which she had to soak, while the dining room's wallpaper was still being fixed by possibly Thelma. She was the typical wife of the 20th century, timid under their husband's control- a time when woman are still widely thought of as inferior and creatures made to serve man. Darryl treats her like she has no dignity and has no value, "She's Crazy!? and a big part due to Thelma letting him do so, "I'm sorry, Doll, I just didn't want you to be late?He doesn't seem to care about her at all, he owns a posh Corvette Sports car, while Thelma has this unappealing Honda. This is a main reason that Thelma is so gullible and nave, she never gets the good end of the deal, and acts as though she deserves it- The crime being that she was born a woman. Thelma's impracticality was portrayed when she was packing her suitcase, she took so much that the trunk of the car couldn't close properly, and she bought a gun with the reason of "psycho killers?.
