Fear

The summer after my freshman year in high school, I left Las Vegas to live with my Aunt, my Uncle, and my two cousins, RJ and Jennifer. My parents were going through a difficult divorce so I chose to stay out of it. I knew when I went out there my life was going to be a lot different. I always had the desire to play football, especially at that time, so I could take my mind off everything back home. My cousins grew up playing baseball, soccer, tennis, and basketball. They were very good too, thanks to their dad.
My uncle was always competitive especially when it came to sports.
When I said I wanted to try out for football, he wasted no time in getting me into shape.
I was flabby and overweight, but I put all my effort into exercise. The first couple of weeks were the hardest and most exhausting. My uncle would wake me up at 6:00 a.m. every morning to start stretching even though everyone knows I am not a happy morning person. After a good healthy breakfast we would jog for two hours, which wasn't so bad. The weather in Irvine is cool and there is always a light ocean breeze. .
As time passed I was getting a lot stronger and feeling more confident. I couldn't wait to get on that field knowing sign up was just around the corner. My uncle was so proud of me for all the hard work I went through. When we first started he told me it would all be worth it, he was right. I had never felt so good in all my life. I just wish my mom and dad could have seen what I have accomplished, but I thought to myself I"ll show them with all the trophies I"m going to win.
After I signed up for practice I went to look at the field. It was strange to see green grass everywhere during the summer, but here there was not only green grass but also a refreshing morning mist. I wanted to check out the weight room because I heard it had all new top of the line equipment. I didn't know were it was at so I asked someone. He pointed me in the direction and told me the football team was in there right now.
