The American Revolution, which resulted in New World independence, left many lasting affects on various countries including its own. After the war, America was left without a Constituton to stand by or a government to follow. The New World colonies verged on anarchy without British rule, and were in a total state of chaos. Britain's government, politics, and culture were all affected by the Revolution, as their failure spurred the Parliment to reaffirm both its governance and its competence. Another country which felt the aftershocks of the Revolution was Holland, which was inspired to revolt against the dominant force of Britain when they learned of America's victorious triumph over the vast empire. The undying pursuit of liberty and freedom by patriotic Americans left lasting political and emotional imprints on countries such as Europe, the Netherlands, and most of all North America.
The New World colonies were heavily damaged during the war as every major battle was fought on American soil. The lower south was described as being "ravaged by war as no other section," as its government and society slowly collapsed due to the massive destruction of prosperous plantations and necessary crops. Georgia was without a patriot government after the war, and was forced to restructure their local government which was without steady leadership or unity. The Southern colonies were also in finanacial unrest after the pounding they received by British troops during the war. Debt and tax pressures ignited hatred and violence in many parts of Georgia and Norh Carolina where poverty was appalling and slavery was disorganized. Slaves were consistently released by British troops during the war which immensly disrupted the Southern economy by sending it into a post-war depression that injured everybody from financial debtors to well-to-do farmers. The colonies were victorious, but many of their property and necessary assets were destroyed by the British, which led to politcal confusion and financial unrest among many tired Americans.
