School Uniforms

In February of 1996, President Clinton made a statement that encouraged the use of school uniforms as an important part of an overall program to improve school safety and discipline. Those schools that have obliged to this encouragement have reported a great decrease in crimes, violence, etc., and an increase in the performance and focus of the student body. School uniforms help students concentrate more on they"re school work than what they"re wearing. It also gives students more confidence with their peers because they feel more united. Furthermore, parents will save an enormous amount of money throughout the school year instead of shopping for new clothes for they"re children every week. For these reasons, school uniforms should be enforced in all public high schools.
School uniforms should be enforced because they boost a student's focus on school instead of how they look. Many students spend hours shopping and trying to figure out what to wear for school. This diverts them from their school studies and prevents them from reaching their full potential in their work. With uniforms, students will never have to worry about the way they look. Therefore, students will give their full attention to school and perform much better.
Another reason school uniforms should be enforced is that they definitely boost a student's confidence at school. The fact that they look like everyone makes them feel like they are part of a team; like they belong to something. This is very important especially in high schools where many teens face issues with self esteem. If students were wearing the same attire together, it would give them a sense of unity in which they would be able to perform with more assurance. Uniforms provide this very effectively.
Also, uniforms would be a large save of money for parents who overspend on their child's clothing. Uniforms take away the problem because the students will wear only one outfit the entire school year.
