What America Means to Me

America is simply a place on earth where people thrive with life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. There is a saying, "a picture is worth a thousand words;" but to me, the word America is worth a thousand pictures. I have seen many pictures of America, but not one has captured how majestic it truly is. America is a place of freedom, where the people are guaranteed natural rights; rights that have been taken away from citizens of other countries. Citizens from places like China would be shot for disagreeing with their government; wherein America, we have freedom of speech, protected by the first amendment. America is a land of opportunity, where the government takes care of the citizens" education, creating a society with a higher standard of living. America has helped many immigrants establish communities, diversifying the country with citizens from the descent of not only the colonists, but ethnic majorities and minorities well.
America has evolved from a place where the men dominated all aspects of life to a place where women and men share basically the same equality in the household, workplace, and social scenes. Although crime and racism rage throughout the country, people are not being executed for their beliefs. For example, Hitler reigned with terror, executing people because they were different. Like Hussein, Hitler posed a threat to society and endangered the lives of many people. No president so far has tried to make a perfect society, where they massacre people by the hundreds just because of the color of their hair or eyes are different. Unlike other countries where racial integration is looked down upon, America sees each citizen with a potential, and judge them not with the color of their skin, but their mind. America has grown out of segregation and integration is now basically looked upon with open arms. America is a masterpiece and not one artist has portrayed it as the beauty America truly is.
