History of Prostitution in America


S tax dollars being thrown away on law enforcement, criminal justice, and prisons for prostitution related crimes. The legal version of prostitution would force the merchants of this profitable service to be licensed, and taxed, as is any other legitimate business. Also required if the commercial sex trade were to be legalized, and to continue with a business license, the prostitutes would have to be tested for STD's (sexually transmitted diseases) regularly. This would generate more income for private health clinics and thus contributing towards the economy. Appeasement would be reached towards most people except, those who are extreme moralists and persist to control other's lives by enforcing morality to meet their own personal beliefs.
             The women involved in prostitution have a poor health-safety plan. Due to sexually transmitted diseases, such as gonorrhea, chlamydia, herpes, and syphilis, prostitutes need to be careful to prevent the spread of those STD's. If not careful sexual transmitted diseases such as Chancroid which is mostly found in economically poor countries, will began to occur in places all over the United States due to spread brought on by the prohibition of prostitution. (Liberator: VI) Government should be willing to help these at risk women and the most practical way of how government can help its citizens is by controlling prostitution. There is no better way to control prostitution than by legalizing and regulating it. Legalization would force prostitutes to take and receive regular medical examinations. Sexual transmitted diseases would stop from being spread as well as other contagious venereal diseases like tuberculosis and hepatitis. If one's moral ethics prevent a person from having a government which helps its citizens, while maintaining freedom rights, then a major change needs to be considered. A change from values which are harmful is only hard if one decides to attach itself onto outdated, self-harming methods.
