The Israeli and Palestinian Conflict

On May 14th, 1948 the state of Israel was formed as the sole Jewish state in the world. The formation of this Jewish state also marked the beginning of a 66 years long and counting conflict between the people of Israel and the Arabs who are now known as the Palestinians. After the holocaust of World War II, many Jews fled to the land of Palestine which was better known as Israel by the Jewish people even before its official declaration of independency. The first political attempt at creating peace between the disputing sides was made by Britain, the controllers of the Palestine land up until Israel's independence. Britain suggested the partition of Palestine which would have divided the land into two different states, one Arab and one Jewish. While Israel was ready to accept this negotiation, the Arabs rejected it. Today the pattern continues; Israel strives for coexistence while the Palestinian authorities want no less than to eradicate the existence of the state of Israel (Infoplease sec. 1). The land of Israel, Gaza Strip, West Bank, Haifa, Tel Aviv, and Jerusalem, rightfully deserves to remain the sole Jewish state with no Palestinian control in any parts of the land.
Did you know that Palestine was actually given its name by the Roman Empire after their conquering of Judea in the first century? The "Palestinian" people did not even refer to themselves as Palestinians until the 1960's. Up until that time they were actually identified as Arabs (Stand With Us, page 2). The media has given Israel a bad reputation over these past years of conflict. They have consistently warped their information to criminalize Israel whether it be out of context pictures or simple ignorant misconceptions about Israel's actions. A popular misconception is that Israel does not treat Arabs with equality that they deserve. This is actually incredibly false information. In fact Arabic is Israel's other official language in partnership with Hebrew.
