Socially Responsible Song Lyrics

Another situation in the song is when a college student is faced with the choice of taking advantage of an under-age girl while at a party or merely taking her home without taking advantage of the girl. Again, the good conscience appears to talk the boy out of raping the young girl while his evil conscience is encouraging the despicable behavior. In the last scenario, a man comes home from work to find his wife cheating on him with another man. The consciences appear again, one to stop the man from killing the two adulterers and the other trying to convince him to do it. In this song, Dr. Dre refers to Eminem as "Slim". Slim refers to Eminem's alias, Slim Shady. Slim Shady is an alter ego of Eminem's who is what many would consider, evil. Slim Shady, who portrayed the evil conscience in the song, is always supporting the use of drugs and guns. The content of Eminem's songs has not stopped him from becoming one of the most popular artists of all time. Two of Eminem's albums have earned diamond certification in the United States. In an essay titled Admiring Eminem, the author writes, "If you don't like what he has to say then don't listen to him". (Admiring, par. 4) Apparently, people like what he has to say even if it is controversial.
Slim Shady does not make an appearance in Eminem's song, Lose Yourself. Actually, Lose Yourself is a motivational and influential song. Lose Yourself is a single written by Eminem for the movie 8 Mile, which Eminem starred as the leading role. The movie is loosely based on the life of Eminem. The leading role, B-Rabbit, is a young white male growing up in a trailer park in Detroit, Michigan.  B-Rabbit is trying to make it as a rapper and participates in rap battles any chance he gets. Nobody believes B-Rabbit can make it as a rapper except for a few of his friends and of course, himself. At these rap battles, artists are required to rap in a freestyle manner which means they don't know what kind of music of rhythm will be played for them.
