Diary of Alaric - King of the Visigoths

Us Goths are growing weary that we may never be paid for our difficult work and our morale is at an all time low. I believe it is time to start demanding we get paid instead of passively awaiting for our payments, for I fear if we don't receive help, we will wither to nothing.
             Entry 4: Beginning of 397.
Well as it turns out, my intuition was correct, and we still have not received any form of payment for laying our lives on the line to fight for the Roman Empire. For the past few years, my army and I have rallied through Thessaly, Attica, Athens, and Corinth with great success. We followed the Roman way by showing mercy to those who have conformed to us, earned our admiration in battle and sold those who survived the war into slavery for a profit. As predicted, Stilicho proved an annoyance, trapping us in ungainly areas such as the Pholoe Mountains and Illyricum, but politics fettered his movements and allowed me to continue my campaign. I believe after all that, I deserve to be on the throne, for haven't I not proven myself in battle? Against all odds, I still stand, conquering numerous lands with precision and efficiency. I'll be able to conquer Italy and to grow my own empire the way I see fit, with fear and sheer brutal power, this fire that burns inside me will not stop until I'm sitting on the throne as King!.
             Entry 5: End of 402.
From the beginning, Stilicho has been nagging at my every move and is not letting me continue with my plan to conquer Italy. For the time being, my dream of standing on the land that I conquered has been halted. Rest assured, I have learned from my mistakes and I will one day return from Italy. God rewarded our hard work by instilling fear into the silly Roman emperor Honorius by transferring the capitol to Ravenna and attempting to pacify me with a higher title and a lump of worthless metals. I will not let my ambition be stopped by these small details; I will prevail.
