Pablo Neruda - Separation and Love

In, "Here I Love You," Neruda realizes that the sea is both tender and cruel; he recalls memories and past times together with his love, waits for a "reply" but cruelly does not receive one that he so desires. In the first few lines, Neruda's use of imagery is apparent:.
In the dark pines the wind disentagles itself.
The moon glows like phosphorous on vagrant waters.
Days, all one kind, go chasing each other.
These are images of nature that bring it to life as a single, sentimental being. Neruda gets outside of himself and into the essence of what he yearns for. The speaker is (here) in this world and his beloved is (there) far away in the world beyond. In the line "the moon glows like phosphorous" Neruda uses a metaphor for his burning love for a woman and the "vagrant waters" embodies Neruda's lonely drifting manner, like waves in an ocean. The last line of the stanza engulfs the feeling of wander and that "days, all one kind" coincide and has no significance or variance. Pablo Neruda is a poet who is not ambiguous about his feelings. Because there is no hidden meaning in Neruda's words, and he is very open about his feelings. It gives the poetry innocence, but in a deeper way.
The snow unfurls in dancing figures.
A silver gull slips down from the west. .
Sometimes a sail. High, high stars.
Oh the black cross of a ship.
             Alone. .
In this stanza, Neruda recalls memories of a time and place with his beloved. Pablo Neruda remembers a time with his beloved possibly playing or dancing in the snow. Neruda and his wife spent time together watching seagulls flying with the sun setting from the west. The line, "Sometimes a sail. High, high stars," compares his wife to the sail of a ship and to the stars that are far away, just like she is to Neruda. The "black cross of a ship," according to WikiAnswers.com, means that the place or thing is haunted by some spirit.
