In the shallows Carr talks about how internet places our focus off the important things in society today. I believe in this quote that Carr said because I feel like the internet distracts us from the real world. It distracts us from getting our whole learning experience it gives us easy answers and we don't have to study therefore we don't learn anything . I myself can relate to what Carr is saying I agree with his saying "the internet is messing up our minds " today. When I read books I read them how I would read an article on the internet. I usually just skim through books I read and try to find the main points of my reading without doing so much reading out of the book. I have been doing this for years because I am always so ready to get my information from the internet source. .
This happens to many people this is why Carr mentioned "the internet is messing up our minds " because people would rather not sit and take time to read a whole book to get answers. People usually want to take the easy route out and go straight to the search engine. The internet takes our focus off of the finer things such as books in schools that are put there for our reading basically like books are just there for no reason teachers don't even use the books . We would rather put the book down and look up a summary of the book online instead of reading the information right in our face. The internet takes attention from doing things yourself and actually learning because it is always so easy and close just to look up answers.
The internet distracts people in general As I watch and observe and I am also a fan of this. Phones usually distract students in class from learning. A teacher can be teaching the whole class without looking up and majority of the class would be on their phone on social networks and other things that have to do with the internet. Carr mentions that the reason why we are not focused is because of the "new media in the world every object has a side effect to it " that makes us not use our brain fully.
