Children of Domestic Violence

This ensures safety as the children do not have to leave the safe house to be schooled. There is often an indoor play room for younger children. With a few child safe toys to help distract the child from all that's going on in a child's life. These toys are often donated used from outside sources and some shelters receive grants to pay for new toys. .
             Kid Safe Alliance is a local organization that has a handful of carefully selected volunteer who bring a little joy into a child's life in a domestic violence shelter. They spread out to six Domestic Violence shelters in the Los Angeles area. They have a scheduled time where they pick up the children and take them to a safe nearby city where the children are able to just be children. They usually take them somewhere to either watch a movie or to a game arcade such as boomers or Chuck E Cheese. They often take the older teenage girls and take them to get manicures and pedicures. On rare occasions when budget and parent allows they will take the children to Knott's Berry Farm, Disney Land, and Six Flags. KID Safe Alliance is a Non-Profit and always covers all fees from the trips, so although the volunteers are paid they still need donations to be able to operate for these children without out of the pocket expenses. I feel as if this Non-Profit organization does leaps and bounds with in the lives of these children in Domestic Violence Shelters. This gives the children a lot of much needed time to vent and just forget about everything that is going on in their lives after they leave a house that had Domestic Violence occurring in it. It also shows them what a healthy human relationship and human interactions are supposed to look like. It gives children a peer advisor and someone to relate to. Some volunteers are actual counselor and some have experienced Domestic Violence themselves. I spoke with Travis Bombarchi, the founder of Kid Safe Alliance and interviewed him.
