College - Big Fish, Small Pond

Professors at smaller universities have less papers to grade so they can give you more feedback on what you did right and what you need to improve on in that particular class. All of this individual attention gives you a better advantage of comprehending the information that you learn in class therefore leading to better grades. Also with smaller classes professors will notice when you not there so that will give you extra motive to go to class since most professors give grades for attendance. This extra motivation to go to class will lead to actually getting more out of each course you take because you their every class learning. .
             Some people view the social environment of a small school as inferior to that of a larger school. However those people overlook the fact that your social experience anywhere you go depends on how you make it. Big school or small school, if you do not try to interact and be social your social life will cease to exist and if you do try to communicate with your peers your social life will blossom throughout your college days. No matter what college you go to you will never know everybody on campus, it is just impossible. So the size of the school has nothing to do with your social experience. Sure bigger schools may have more events and things but smaller schools still have events where you can enjoy your time surrounded by the rest of your peers. More importantly college students usually have certain friends or cliques that they are around most of the time. Cliques are not usually that big so no matter the school size the amount of close friends that you will have will be limited anyway. Here at Walsh I already have my particular group of friends that I am with most of the time. Also at a smaller college classroom sizes are smaller so you will have more group discussions in class and be basically forced to interact with your peers and this could lead to new friendships.
