             Along with its neighboring city of Dubai, the city of Abu Dhabi is also one of the world's wealthiest cities, established off the distribution of oil. This has met with remarkable success and helped the city to enter the world of high tech industry. Abu Dhabi is located in the nation of the United Arab Emirates boarding the Gulf of Oman and Persian Gulf. The country sits between Oman and Saudi Arabia with a population of about 921,000. Alone, Abu Dhabi generated 56.7% of the United Arab Emirates Gross Domestic Product. Yes as a result of the global oil supply and demand Abu Dhabi is very fortunate in wealth, but has one of the highest per capita greenhouse gas emitters. The city has decided that times call for change. As one of the predominant oil producers globally makes efforts for change, they take forefront of the renewable energy ingenuities. It is home of the future's first zero-carbon, zero-waste, car-free city. This city will be solar powered and named, "Masdar City. " .
             The word "Masdar " is an Arabic word that when is translated into English is defined as "the source. " This name is to convey the anticipation of the project engineers and entrepreneurs that the inventiveness will become a global hub for green-energy innovation. The proposal was launched in the year of 2006 by the Abu Dhabi government's Mubadala Development Company (MDC). In 2008, life was brought to the ambitious idea of the world's first carbon-neutral cities when construction started to take place.
