             There are 4 major types of murder categories that include serial, mass, sensational, and spree. A serial murder is a crime conducted by a serial killer. A serial killer is a murderer who murders multiple people over a period of time with a cooling off period between each Murder. I received a statement from a fellow law enforcement officer and he stated that a serial killer will usually stick with the same kind of victim for each of his skills for example they can be prostitutes, females were certain hair colors, children of certain ages, and even elderly people. I also took notice of this article that said that serial killers that tend to be disappointed by the murder they committed will murder again and again simply just for satisfaction. While doing some research online on serial killers I actually found 0 that the word serial killer is used because normally the killings are separate meaning one at a time. .
             A real life example of serial murders is the Gary Ridgway case which is known as one of the deadliest serial killers in America. He confessed to 48 killings in 2003 and all of them were women. During the time that he conducted those murders he even passed a polygraph test in 1984 and continued his killing spree. The ages of the woman who he killed we're from 15 to 38. The next type of murder category is mass murder. Mass murder is defined as murdering many people usually simultaneously or in certain situations killing many people over a short period of time. Mass murder can also be defined as murdering 4 or more people turning an event with no cooling off period between the murders. A real life example of mass murder is the Holocaust who Adolf Hitler and his Nazis are to blame for.
