It has existed in a variety of forms in nearly every culture around the world. It was when this archetype got mixed with American culture when the vampire media began to change. These alterations were caused by many cultural elements (Radford 1). An example would be how religion and spirituality became a big part of this subject. Modern notions of gender and sexuality also contributed to the drastic revision that occurred within vampire media in the last twenty-five years. Although there have been many misconceptions about vampires, they have shaped our world to this day. With the hit series "Twilight", the transformation of vampires from terrifying, bloodsucking killers to sensitive, emotionally-intelligent, misunderstood souls, is complete (O'Neill 1). This movie inspired other films such as Vampire Diaries and True Blood. It seems as if vampires portray the same character in all present shows and movies, and the media feeds off of these romantic yet mysterious films. .
For some reason this creature became really popular in the world. For example, on Halloween many people dress up as vampires. Along with many film directors and authors basing many of their works on these bloodsuckers and for some peculiar reason they really catch the attention of today's society (O'Neil 1). This is probably because they appeal to almost all age groups (O'Neil 1). Another possibility could be that the vampire is usually caught up in some romantic tale. Why have they become so well liked? If a vampires' mouth is going towards your neck, odds are it's not going to kiss it. If people were to know the real truth and history about them, their opinions and thoughts would change. Today's society seems to glorify vampires for what they are made out to be rather that what they actually are.
One extremely well known vampire is Dracula. This fictional character was allegedly based on the real action portrayed by Vlad lll (Palermo 1).
