Understanding of Prayer in Islam

Praying is one of the five pillars of Islam. Understanding the significance of it is one of the most important signs of faith. It is the most pure and sincere gesture of being a servant to Allah. The believer must always fear and submit to Him. He must also understand that he cannot fulfill what is asked of him on his own. Only with Allah's help can he achieve this. By praying with heartfelt devotion, man will always be able to connect with Allah. No matter how often He is called upon, Allah will always be there for the true believer. He is the creator of the universe and is incessantly watching over His creation. He has the power to allow, and also destroy whatever He wants. For that reason, it is very important to never abandon Allah.
When praying, man should be aware that Allah accepts all sincere prayers. He will always be near and respond to the believer that fully trusts and does not doubt Him. Man will not always receive what he wishes, since he may ask for something which is wrong for him. But he must understand that he is meager before Allah. No matter how outrageous man's thoughts are, he should truly wish what he demands. Allah is the innovator of the wishes in his heart. He knows all that goes through man's mind. Man cannot deceive Allah. And for that reason, man must pray "with humility." Zakariya is one of the many that received what they wished for. He asked for an offspring since his wife was barren, and that he was given because he never once had any disbelief towards Allah. He was humble before Allah and called on Him with "pity, fear and submission." .
Allah is respected and feared by the man who prays, because He sees everything and hears everything. This is why prayer is not only for asking something to happen, but a significant worship. Allah is the almighty and most gracious creator of the universe. Worshipping Him is what drives the will of man to pray. By being able to know everything and see everything, Allah is also able to destroy it all.
