In Support of Free College Tuition

A college education seems to be the surest ticket to the middle class. It has become necessity in todays society. Students throughout the country concentrating on academics and striving for top grades. Financing each students education in today society has become an strenuous task."More than 400,000 prospective students have been denied the opportunity of college because of the institutions' tuition and strict enrollment." (Gonzalez) However many people wonder if free college tuition should be granted. Of course there are pros and cons to this subject. But the pros outweigh the cons.
One of the pros of free college tuition is it will assist student to concentrate on their studies. The average GPA for college students right now is 2.52 however "They must maintain a 3.0 grade point average" ( Adolph Reed Jr. and Sharon Szymanski) Most college students usually have part-time jobs and are full-time students. They have to rely on their job, as much as their academics, to be able to pay for all necessary books and classes that they are required to take. These jobs take time away from the student's study time. If free college tuition was given, students would have more time to educate themselves, plus be well rested instead of being tired from time consuming jobs. They would be prepared for their classes and not worry about their own financial situation or other issues regarding their personal education. However many may argue that this takes away from the student growing up and accepting the real world. I would have to disagree with that. Just because a student is not paying for schooling does not mean they do not have to support themselves. Majority of students are away from home in college thus having to provide for themselves, and hold down a job. With taking away tuition you are taking a significant amount of stress off of an student. .
Another pro to free community college is students from underprivileged families that work hard in school would be able to get into college easier.
