The Beatles of Yesterday and Today

But whether the new album cover was accepted by the crowd and why the Butcher cover was released in the first place is still a mystery, which lead to various controversies.
As the original album cover faced issues during release and was not accepted by the public, Capitol was forced to re-launch the album cover with a new album cover and discard the latter. The new album cover now had the fab four pose to the camera with smiling faces and surrounded by a trunk. The new album cover had absolutely no resemblance to the previous one. It was a depiction of the fab four with their smiling faces as was seen in their albums before 'Yesterday and Today'. By releasing the newer album cover Capitol did try to hide the reason for releasing the original album cover. The original album cover where the band is posing with flesh and baby dolls had the negative opinion of the public. This surely did affect their sales world-wide as noted by Capitol in their comment in the Billboard Magazine.
The original album cover of 'Yesterday and Today' can be noted as a violent album cover due to its way of depiction. The album cover portrays pieces of flesh and dismembered baby dolls and the four band members posing with smiley faces. Looking at a picture with a blood smeared and cut parts of a baby dolls background develops an attitude of disgust in the onlookers mind and portrays the album cover as a negative and violent image. The image is so disgusting that the onlooker would think before buying the album as the album cover itself develops a negative opinion in spite of being an album released by one of the most famous bands. Though, at the time the band released 'Yesterday and today' in the year 1966, the band was it peak of fame and releasing a controversial picture would have had a marketing purpose or a publicity stunt in order to diversify the band but it could also lead to major controversies.
