The Country of Turkministan

Countries surrounding Turkmenistan in hard time use their melons as a source of food. Turkmenistan actually has a public holiday called melon day. Turkmenistan is said to have the most public holidays in the world. In Turkmenistan green tea is the primary drink next to water. The tea is sometimes drank with milk. Gatyk is another very popular drink and it's not entirely a drink it is a yogurt that is not watery but it is more a liquid than a solid. Vodka is the number one most purchased alcoholic beverage due to its cheapness and quantity.
Turkmenistan is filled with beliefs but eighty-nine percent of all people are Muslim, and most of those people are Sunni, nine percent of all people in Turkmenistan are eastern orthodox, and two percent of all people in Turkmenistan are non-religious. While on the soviet era all religions were attacked and pinned as superstitions most religions were actually banned. Since 1990 efforts have been made to regain some of cultural heritage lost while under soviet rule. Former president ordered that Islamic teachings be taught in public school and that is only one way they were getting the culture back. Another way the government have helped is they have got more religious places appear, the current president wrote his own religious book and it is held to the Qur'an standards. The book is called Hadith and written by President Niyazov. Another religion that is a very small but important part of the culture is the Baha'i faith it is still part of the daily lives of some in Turkmenistan but it was one of the large religions even before the soviet rule.
The two largest religious conflicts were the one previously stated about the soviet rule and all of the banning's and preventions of most religions in Turkmenistan, and the other is the fight between the Shia and the Sunni (the two branches of the Islamic culture). The Shia Sunni clash consists of almost all of central Asia, the middle east, and northern Africa.
