Canada and Capital Punishment

We know this is true justice being served because it would make the people far happier, knowing that there's no chance of a dangerous offender being discharged back into society. The death penalty will act as both a deterrent and prevention method when it comes to crime. "There is no sin in administering punishment for those individuals who refuse to obey God's law" (Thomas Aquinas), any action necessary to preserve society is not evil. It's not morally correct to end someone's life, but it is just to end someone's life because their actions ended another's life. If any person who is dangerous to the community and is threatening it by some sin, the punishment is his execution in order to preserve the common good, "a little leaven sours the whole lump." I am very much on the side of "an eye for an eye" type justice because at the end of the day, if you kill someone then you too should be killed. It's justice for the deceased as well as justice for the family of the deceased. "Let the punishment match the offense" (Cicero). .
             It is both the right and the duty of the government to protect its citizens from enemies. The government has the executive power to bring back the death penalty, so why don't they? Imagine being the family of a murder victim and having to deal with the fact that your tax dollars are being spent on keeping the killer of your loved one in jail. Citizens of the country want to know that their government cares and watches out for them. People want to be able to sleep at night, knowing they are in the hands of their trusted government. The common good of the whole society is far greater and better than the good of any particular person. Society as a whole would be better off with the death penalty enacted. It would reduce crime rates because more people would fear the death penalty as opposed to life imprisonment. "Men had a fear of death and this fear would cause them to be peaceful" (Thomas Hobbes).
