Eviornmental Ethics

The meat comes from cows or other animals that eat the grass that grows from the ground. Candy's main ingredient is sugar also grown from the ground. The clothes on your back are, more than likely, made of cotton, which is also grown from the ground. The seafood we eat comes from the sea and they feed on the small fish and algae. God gave us this earth to give us the things we need to survive. Genesis 1: 29 says, Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. So if we don't take care of the land and the sea the things we know and love today, that gives us the life we have, will be nonexistent. We must take care of this earth so that it can continue to provide us with the things to sustain life for all of God's creation. .
We as a society go out into the environment and take as much as we can. For example, logging companies go out and cut down tree after tree until the forest is gone, then they move to the next area. Also fishing companies go out to the seas and take as many fish as they can, and this is causing certain fish populations to decrease at an alarming rate. When we do these things we are screwing with habitats and food chains that will inevitably have a negative affect, down the line if we don't change our ways. So what can we do as individuals? Well, we can start with the simplest form of environmental care; recycling. Hundreds of years ago Native American Indians lived out in the environment using only what the land had to provide and I think that they did a pretty great job at what they did. They only took the things that they needed to survive. For example when they hunted for food they killed only what they could eat partly because they had no means of storage but also because they were aware of the needs of the environment. Then after killing the animal, say a buffalo, they used every single part of the animal leaving no waste.
